Firebug is a free, open source in-browser web development tool for the Firefox web browser. It’s many features include: on-the-fly HTML and CSS editing for tweaking or debugging, a Console for logging, analyzing and debugging JavaScript, and an intuitive Document Object Model (DOM) inspection tool to help you quickly see how the elements of a web page relates to one another.

Firebug’s popularity is so immense it’s one of the few Firefox extensions that have its own extensions (like YSlow and FirePHP)!

The list of all the commands that you can do in Firebug are too extensive.

Firebug is a debugging tool for Firefox. Fire(Fox De)Bug.

As far as I know you can only run javascript commands. I use it for the editing and getting links of things that are obfuscated.

In order to load a specific script, find the icon that looks like a pair of folder images in a folder/sub-folder arrangement, at top left corner of the main display area under the main menu of the Tools interface. You'll know you've correctly identified, if you mouseover - its hint is "Show navigator". Click that to get a menu of the scripts that loaded with the page. Pick a script. Once the script is loaded into the display, look at the bottom of the Scripts dialog - there's a bar of icons. If you mouse over the icon that looks a set of open/close braces, i.e., {}, the hint is "Pretty print" - that will unminify and format any script you've loaded into the Scripts dialog.
