Hi people, I'm new to this forum and stuttering has been Affecting my life a lot lately. While my stutter is generally mild, in some situations it has got really bad. Since starting university about 6 weeks ago, answering direct questions has got progressively harder, the main one being "what course do you study?" (computer science), it's getting to the point where I'm terrified of people even talking to me in case they decide to ask. I joined a walking / trekking society and I've found once I get to know people I can talk more freely, In some conversations I haven't stammered at all. For instance, I think I was talking to someone about a website I was working on the previous weekend and some other stuff, this went fine (I changed a couple of words mid-sentence but fluent apart from that) About a minute later someone else introduced themselves and then asked what course I was studying, I completely blocked. I gave up in the end, as I felt there was no way I was going to be able to say it - I know that's not a good thing but for the sake of ending the stressful situation, I just said I stammered and couldn't say it. _________________ dubai desert safari
